Curriculum

Through nature-based activities, our curriculum in fourth grade is designed to meet our
students’ level.

Our English course focuses on the four core skills of the language, reading, writing, listening and speaking where students will be able to connect the word to the world.
Our students will become readers with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension, produce clear and coherent writing in which the development and organization are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience. They will be able to conduct short research projects that build knowledge through investigation of different aspects of a topic. They will also will able to communicate and express themselves in complete sentences when appropriate to task and situation in order to provide requested detail or clarification. Our 4 th graders will demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing and speaking.
Math nurtures certain qualities in kids such as power of reasoning, creativity, abstract and critical thinking, problem-solving ability and even effective communication skills. This is highly reflected in our Math course where teachers connect Mathematics to life through hands-on activities and real-life problems. Instructional time focuses on various areas as developing understanding with multi-digit multiplication, and dividing to find quotients involving multi-digit dividends. In addition to developing an understanding of fraction equivalence, addition and subtraction of fractions with like denominators, and multiplication of fractions by whole numbers. Geometric figures are also part of our Mathematics
course: parallel sides, perpendicular sides, particular angle measures, and
symmetry. In Science, our curriculum focuses on observing, engaging, exploring and elaborating a variety of experiments. Students will make connections to Science through the Natural world around. They will make investigations using a variety of methods, tools, and techniques. Students will also analyse and interpret data to make sense of phenomena using logical reasoning. Our curriculum also includes Social Studies, Arabic and Islamic Studies.
